Wonderful stay and great facilities
Enjoyable. Clean, lots of kitchen utensils etc.
We had a lovely relaxed weekend, the house was beautiful.
Absolutely amazing accommodation! Was extremely charming building, comfortable beds and rooms, loads of space. Right next to a couple pubs, 20 minutes away from Buxton Parkrun, Harpur Hill Rock Climbing, Cat and Fiddle and Chee Dale hikes. Will use again!
Had a wonderful stay at Bat's Belfry. Check-in was easy and the property was beautiful, spotless, and comfortable
It was a wonderful stay, superbly fitted out. Peaceful & quiet, yet soon in the bustle of the local pubs & towns.
We had a lovely stay thank you - such a delightful property
Came away for a weekend getaway with a few friends. The pictures don't do the place justice, the space and rooms were great with fantastic surrounding areas. Absolutely thrilled with our experience and we'll certainly be coming back again!
Incredible location in the heart of the Peak District. Short drives to many stunning walks. The pub was a short walk down the road and had delicious food. Kitchen was very well stocked with utensils, dishes etc. We had a great long weekend here! Would definitely recommend
Fantastic! We stayed for 4 days and loved every minute of this place. We (2 adults and 3 kids aged 13, 11 and 8) arrived early and thought we would try our luck to see if we could check in a bit earlier and they were able to accommodate us. We loved the property! It was clean, warm and cosy with beautiful views. Really comfy beds and a great kitchen. Brilliant games room on site with table tennis. Loved the pub at the end of the road. Went for some lovely walks with our kids who really enjoyed climbing the tors and walking through what looked like magical woodland. We had amazing ice cream at Tagg's dairy just down the road and visited Bakewell and had the best piece of bakewell pie from The Bakewell tart shop. In fact went back for more to take home. Also does nice coffee. Also visited Treak cliff cavern which was fantastic. We loved it so much here despite rain a couple of days. Will definitely be back again. Thank you Peak Venues.
Fantastic stay - beautiful rural location whilst being very handy for local attractions. Host was extremely helpful and responsive 10/10 highly recommend.
Great stay at the barn. Enjoyed the break and it was spotlessly clean and perfect for the four of us. We also walked to the pub which was very welcoming and adapted the menu to cater for a coeliac and also other food intolerances. Would definitely stay again.
Beautiful barn, kitchen well stocked with equipment, plus coffee maker, tea bags, coffee and sugar. Rooms and bathrooms were well presented and clean. Would definitely recommend
Great location, easy access to Buxton and Bakewell. Loads of great pubs and restaurants in the local area. Lovely stay, just what we needed for our walking/relaxing holiday. Thank you!
Great place to stay when exploring the Peak District. Very clean, really well equipped, perfect for families. Lovely scenery and in a good spot close to Buxton, Dove Dale & the Tissington Trail. 3 pubs close by, one in walking distance. All the checkin info was clear and easy to follow. Would highly recommend a stay at Bats Belfry.
Great barn and location. Good communication. Clean with a well equipped kitchen. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend the barn.
Absolutely beautiful stay we had, felt right at home straight from our arrival. The house was clean and spotless. Great crockery and kitchen utensils, didn't had to worry to much . I would definitely recommend this place to my close ones
Bats Belfry is a nice property in great location, which felt like the middle of nowhere but is not far in the car to the lovely small towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Lots of beautiful walks from right outside the front door. We walked to the local pub The Royal Oak and found it to be a great pub with lovely food and friendly staff. The house itself is equipped with most of what you would need, the wifi works well considering there is no signal outside. Beds were made up to our specification and the communication with Peak Venues was outstanding. There was a welcome supply of basic items such as tea, coffee pods, foil, washing liquid and toiletries as you would expect. There is an EV charger onsite and a great outdoor space for good weather conditions.
We had a perfect stay at Bats Belfry!
Family of 5, children aged 8, 10 & 13. We stayed for 3 nights. Lovely, warm, clean, cosy accommodation. Enough space for us all, with all the utensils and amenities we needed. We visited Roaches, Poole's Cavern and walked 10 miles round Upper Derwant Valley. We ate at Rajas in Bakewell and visited the Royal Oak pub, which went down well with the kids as did the cocktails for us! We had a lovely comfortable trip!
Amazing long weekend in Bats Belfy, the house is extremely well stocked with everything you need & is a great location for hiking nearby. Beautiful location with great outdoor space. Dog friendly, although we did have to block off the gaps in the walls as no gates on them. Would highly recommend.
A lovely stay. Thank you
This was a clean and well-presented property. The surroundings are lovely with lots of local gems to visit nearby. There is a small garden area out the front of the property, which will be overlooked by the other properties on the site but this was T a problem for us. There’s also a BBQ provided for each property in the garden areas as well. We would definitely return.
We had a fabulous time. Thank you. The properties were perfect for our needs. Everything was comfortable, beautifully organised and very well equipped. We appreciated all the clarity and efficiency of your organisation.
The accommodation was perfect for us. We really appreciated the extra dining space for the larger group occupying 2 cottages (family birthday gathering) though it would have been helpful to have a few extra seats available (folding chairs or stools)for the table. Not a big problem for us as with the glorious weather we were able to be out doors most of the time. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped and the location superb. We really appreciated the admin and communication beforehand, too - letting us know what was available in the cottages and also the configuration of the bedrooms. We had a fabulous weekend and would love to have stayed longer
I can highly recommend The Bats Belfry enough, we had a great experience. Communication was excellent, check in smooth and the accommodation was exactly as stated and exceptionally clean. Everything we needed for a great few days was catered for. We had a fab time and would love to stay again.
Thank you for your email. We had a wonderful few days at Hurdlow Grange to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. The 2 houses allowed our family to gather together for the occasion which made it very special. (It was a great advantage to have the extra dining space in Bat’s Belfy) We also thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Royal Oak. Of course, the glorious weather was a big bonus and Derbyshire was looking its absolute best… we were sad to leave the beautiful surroundings on Sunday.
Lovely and relaxing getaway in the countryside. Spacious for a family. We had a great time!
Great place for a long weekend with our friends and doggy’s. Lots of amazing walks nearby. The Airbnb was well equipped, as described and overall spot on!
We had a lovely, relaxing time at Bats Belfry. The children (14,11,8) enjoyed the games room; the pub was excellent and the rooms were cosy and comfortable. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We were all very impressed with the properties and area.
We had a lovely stay at Bats Belfry last weekend and enjoyed your recommendation of a meal at The Royal Oak. It was a perfect halfway point for us to meet our son who lives in Newcastle, so we would definitely like to visit again!
We had a wonderful long 40th birthday weekend at Bat’s Belfry. The space was clean, tidy and incredibly cosy. Great walks from the doorstep and plenty to do within driving distance. Loved the Royal Oak’s service and food and bought some great meat from Tagg Lane Dairy.
We had a great few days, the living space was great, the pub down the road was really nice, and it was a good location from which to explore the Peak District
Great stay with friends, clean and spacious venue! Not too far from the pub!
The property was well heated with lots of hot water. We enjoyed our stay - very comfortable.
Great venue. Beautiful scenery, perfect location for a group getaway! had all amenities you will need. Would highly recommend.
Thank you. It’s such a lovely place we really enjoyed it
Definitely recommend! Excellent professional operation - our entire group thought it was good value and were impressed.
Great location and really well thought out accommodation. And the pub down the lane is great and a 20 min walk.
Great location, it was lovely being able to walk from the door. And a fantastic, friendly pub walking distance away too. Perfect for our family catch up! Thanks so much for a lovely weekend and your helpful communication.
We absolutely loved it here. Very well furnished and presented. Great location- near Alton Towers and the Peak District. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you
We enjoyed our stay at Peak Venues, the communication prior to our arrival was excellent and the barn had been set up as we requested in the room styles and a high chair left as requested. The kitchen was well equipped for our stay. Couple of things that could have improved our stay: access to a hoover and the option to have a stair gate with a toddler due to upside down living arrangements. Overall, an enjoyable stay.
Great location for lots of walks on the door step, also lots of walks a short drive away. It's well worth visiting Bakewell. We went to lots of local pubs. The place was really clean and tidy, a cosy homely setting with the living upstairs and the bedrooms downstairs. Lots of kitchen ware as well and lots of space. Also being dog friendly was a big plus for us. Lovely quiet area off the beaten track.
We returned from our stay at Bat’s Belfry yesterday. We had a fabulous time - thank you! The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The location was perfect for a visit to Chatsworth and for a starry night viewing for my son with his telescope. All boxes ticked!
Really nice place. Pristine upon arrival, great social space upstairs, and rooms were comfortable
A great location. Highly recommended.
A perfectly appointed house in a fantastic location. Clean and great for groups and families, we really enjoyed our stay here. “Thanks for a great stay. We thought it was a great property and fab location.
Just wanted to send an email to say thank you so much for providing such a great service at Hurdlow Grange - the accommodation was absolutely perfect - completely spotless and everything we could imagine needing was provided. The team have been brilliant at communication from point of booking, often replying immediately! We have all been really impressed and everyone has said they would love to return.
Lovely venue in a great location. Great place to stay
Lovely house in a quiet location but a short drive from lots of activities. Pub was closed but looks nice and only a 15 min walk . Plan another trip when the pub is open. Thank you for a great stay the property is lovely and the upstairs space is a great family space.
Photos do not do the house justice, the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge was great, perfect location for walking and only a short drive to Bakewell and Buxton. Fantastic value for money and great communication from the host.
This house is lovely! So cosy and warm for a cold winter break. Would highly recommend.
Bats belfry was amazing. Well equipped, comfy and had everything u could need. we'll worth it. Great location. definitely recommend
Lovely place in a great location, with plenty of walking/cycling country and other activities nearby, and a good pub within walking distance. Thanks for a good stay!
I stayed here recently with my girlfriend, toddler, my mum and her partner, we also brought our dogs with us too. The location was stunning, so quiet and although it's not in the middle of nowhere, it felt like it which was amazing, The accommodation was very nice too with gigantic beds, the kitchen was very well equipped which is a rarity these days but very welcome. The Royal Oak down the road (15-20 min walk) is a great pub and the food is great too. Only a couple of minor complaints are. It's great the venue allow dogs but despite having a lovely little garden, there are no gates, so we could never let the dogs out alone and with a toddler, we had to keep chasing him around as he could have easily got out too. As I say these are just minor issues, but I felt like mentioning it because it would have made the stay even more relaxing than it already was. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to friends.
Great location for a Peak District stay, very close to Bakewell and Buxton and in a quiet area which a brilliant pub down the road (Royal Oak Hurdlow). Good views from the upstairs windows and everything we needed was there for a family 6 person stay for the weekend. Very good communication and easy contactless check in/out.
Great location, easy parking, easy access to lots of activities in the peaks, including being less than 2 miles from the bike hire on the Tissington Trail. Kitchen was well equipped and top floor living space was exceptional. Thanks!!
Bats Belfry was a great holiday stay for our family - the property is definitely out in the countryside but that makes the appeal even more enticing if you want a break in the peaks. Towns were all a short drive and the local pub at the end of the road is fantastic. Communication with peak venues was great too if we needed anything
“Excellent location for cycling and walking the Tissington / Monsal trails. Clean, well thought out accommodation with ample parking and views.”
Beautiful house with a great sociable lay out. beautiful surroundings and lovely pub 15 min walk away
“beautiful apartments in idyllic countryside location.”
Hurdlow Grange is very pleasant to stay in. The house is in very good repair, very clean and comfortable.. The kitchen is large and well appointed and all appliances were clean and worked well. The pub 'The Royal Oak' nearby is within walking distance and there are lovely walks to be had from the house. The trig point nearby is a nice walk and the climb up gives fabulous views. We really enjoyed our stay and would go again.”
“Lovely house with very comfy beds. Kitchen /dining space is great for groups. It’s down a quiet country lane with nice views.”
“A great stay here for a few nights- very accommodating with a dog, and was the perfect base to stay in the Peak District! Everything is only20-30mins away and a great pub down the road!”
Great place to stay to explore the Peak District! The property was clean with nice furnishings etc.
Lovely base for walking and visiting Bakewell and Buxton we very much enjoyed our stay.
Highly recommend this converted barn ..Fabulous spot, immaculate, and cosy, great hosts and attention to detail. also appreciated the chat with one of the owners - interesting story of the Peak Venues Journey!
“Great location, stunning countryside and great accommodation - spotless, spacious and practical. We have three young children, our eldest is eight and this space was perfect for them. Would recommend for a young family.”
We had a wonderful week at Bats Belfry in Hurdlow Grange. It’s a spotless, modern and comfortable barn conversion situated in the most breathtaking views. Although it’s quite a remote location it’s the perfect position to see all the main sites in the Peak District. We will be back!”
Comfortable, clean property with everything you could need. A good base from which to explore the beautiful area. Host was informative and helpful.
“Great place to stay in a lovely spot. Easy walk to trails and lovely pub at the end of the road. Accommodating hosts”
“Me and my family had a wonderful stay, the barn was perfect for 6 people and was spotlessly clean with everything you need for your stay. We enjoyed some great walks in the local area and a delicious meal in the pub down the road. Would highly recommend the area and the accommodation.”

It is always best to check the websites for any seasonal opening times as some places do shut early or close over the winter months.
As our award winning pub is only 0.8 mile stroll down the lane, it would be rude not to pop in and sample the extensive menu and try the various local beers on offer. Reservations are recommended, please call 01298 83288.
For further information please visit the Royal Oak website.
With the Tissington and High Peak Trails close by you can walk for miles along these old railway lines. Both trails meet at Parsley Hay, the Tissington Trail runs along a 13 mile route from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay, while the High Peak Trail is 17.5 miles longroute from the High Peak junction near Cromford to Dowlow. Surrounded by beautiful countryside the traffic-free trail is ideal for horse riders, cyclists and walkers of all abilities. It is also suitable for wheel chairs and pushchairs along the flat sections and the trail is mainly mud free which is quite rare in the Peak District. To find the nearest access turn left out of Hurdlow Grange and walk up the lane for ½ mile and you will come to a track clearly marked on you right, follow this until you reach the beginning of the trail on the right hand side. The nearest bike hire can be found at Parsley Hay which is 2.5 miles away and is at the junction of the High Peak and Tissington Trails.
Click here for more information on Parsley Hay cycle hire. (Parsley Hay does shut for Winter from 01st Nov until February)
3. Chatsworth House and Park
No visit to the Peak District would be complete without visiting the fabulous Chatsworth Estate. There really is something to do for every member of the family - The Farmyard and Adventure playground, the magnificent house and the gardens which are equally as impressive as the house , with the maze, the garden trails, and the famous water cascade to keep the little ones occupied.
Click here for a link to Chatsworth House and Park.
A great day out for the family with something for everyone to enjoy. Start off with a visit to the famous Danebridge Fisheries, a great place to visit with kids, here you can fish in the well-stocked pool, catch your own supper or feed the trout (food supplied). Then a visit to the Wincle Brewery, where you can even do a one day brewing course! After a trip to the brewery why not call into the Ship Inn, just down the lane where you can sample Wincle’s fine ales in the pretty beer garden. Follow up with finally finishing the day off with a visit to Blaze Farm, a working farm that has become famous for their awarding winning Hilly Billy Ice Cream which is all made on the farm using the milk from their dairy herd. With tea rooms, nature trials and animals to pet there is something for everyone!
The spa town of Buxton can really offer something for everyone; enjoy a stroll around the pretty Pavilion gardens. The kids can enjoy the playground areas or you might chose to go for a swim at the public swimming pool. The more adventurous may want to try out ‘Go Ape’ the treetop adventure course, for those without a head for heights a visit to Poole’s Cavern is fascinating, and it’s a great activity especially for kids when the weather does not cooperate for outdoor activities. For theatre lovers, seeing a show in the intimate Buxton Opera House is a must, and for the shopaholics the pretty Cavendish Arcade has a range of lovely little boutique shops. Lovers of real ale will enjoy visiting Buxton Tap House, which is Buxton’s own brewery pub serving its very own ales and bitters.
