Visit Stoney Middleton

Don't be fooled into thinking that Stoney Middleton is just the houses on the A623 - step back from the road and you will find narrow lanes lined with pretty stone cottages, some nestled by the side of the brook that runs through the village and the oldest octagonal church in the UK, which dates back to 1759.

Stoney Middleton also holds historical significance. During the great plague of 1665, they provided essential supplies and food for the quarantined villagers of Eyam. Residents of Stoney Middleton would leave provisions at designated boundary stones, where Eyam residents would collect them without direct contact, and leave money soaked in vinegar to prevent the spread of the disease.

Today, Stoney Middleton is a bustling village with a fabulous pub, fish and chip shop loved by Liam Gallagher and Tom Cruise, and a great Indian Restaurant at Curry Cottage at The Lovers Leap.
